Cat TienCat Tien Bird National Park is an important national park found in the south of Vietnam, around 150 km north of Ho Chi Minh City. It protects one of the largest areas of lowland tropical rainforests left in Vietnam.
There are about 230 species of birds. Endangered birds to be found here include White-winged Duck, White-shouldered Ibis, Germains Peacock-Pheasant, Green Peafowl and the very elusive Orange-necked Partridge. Mammal species found in the park include Indochinese Tiger, Asian Elephant and the last surviving Annamese Rhino, a sub species of the Javan Rhino, although you would have to be extremely lucky to catch a glimpse of any of these. Wild boar, several species of deer and the rare Duoc Langur and Crested Gibbon are sometimes seen.

Day 1 : Ho Chi Minh City – Nam Cat Tien
Drive from Ho Chi Minh City to Nam Cat Tien National Park. Check in to a local guesthouse. In the afternoon, proceed to the Ben Cu area to bird watch. View old-growth forest and the rapids at Thac Troi and Thac Dung. Walk back to guesthouse in late afternoon. Overnight in the national park guest house.

Day 2 : Nam Cat Tien – Bird watching
Early morning walk to Daclua, enjoying bird watching along the way. As the walk progresses, guests can see greater quantities and varieties of birds. Two rare species native to the area include the Germain’s Peacock Pheasant and Siamese Fireback. Transfer to jeep for late afternoon return to the guesthouse.

Day 3 : Nam Cat Tien
Early morning drive to Bau Sau. At Bau Sau begin bird watching along forest trails. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Bau Sau station. Transfer to jeep for late afternoon return to guesthouse. Overnight in the national park guest house.

Day 4 : Nam Cat Tien – Ho Chi Minh City
After breakfast make the return drive to Ho Chi Minh City.
