Orange – necked Cat Tien National Park Bird Watching Tour 2 DaysPartridge (Arborophila davidi), an endemic species to Vietnam, this species was listed as Endangered category in IUCN redlist. Although distribution range of this species covers Binh Phuoc -“ Dong Nai and a part of Lam Dong province but nowhere we are easy to find them, except Tan Phu forest enterprise.
From Ho Chi Minh city (Sai Gon), about two and a half hour by car on the highway No. 1 and highway No. 20 forward to Dat Lat, we will meet Tan Phu Forest Enterprise Special Use., that located in Dinh Quan town – Dong Nai province. This evergreen forest presenting for ecosystem of lowland with very high diversified biology. Over 175 bird species, 35 mammals, 84 reptiles and amphibian and over 200 butterflies were confirmed. Especially, this forest is also home to many important birds such as Orange-necked Partridge, Gearmain’s Peacock, Siamese Fireback, Lesser Adjutant, Wooly-necked Stork, Bar-bellied Pitta, Grey-faced Tit Babbler. Day 1: Ho Chi Minh – Tan Phu
Early morning: Pick you up at the hotel at 05:30 and have breakfast on the way to Dong Nai Province. About 08:00 am, go into the forest do birding along the trail where we can find Orange-breasted Trogon, Asian Brown Flycatcher, Lineated, Green-eared and Blue-throated Barbet, Black-crested, Stripe-throated, Streak-eared, Ochacerous, Grey-eyed Bulbul, Black-hooded and Black-naped Oriole, Red-breasted Parakeet, Vernal Hanging Parrot, Dollarbird, Indian Roller Woodswallow, Asian Palm Swift, Barn Swallow, Spotted and Red-collared Dove, Greater Coucal, Drongo Cuckoo, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Bronzed; Black and Crow-billed Drongo, White-crested Laughingthrush etc. see more (link to birdlist)
Noon Time: Visit Mai stream (Thac Mai), a very beautiful landscape, here we can see some birds that we can not find in the forest such as Grey and Forest Wagtail, Common Sandpiper, Egrets.Have Lunch and take noon break.
Afternoon: Walking back 6 km along the trail to Hot-water lake (Bau Nuoc Soi) to see Black-naped Monarch, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Bar-winged Flycatcher-shrike, Green-billed Malkoha, Violet, Asian Emerald and Plaintive Cuckoo, Minivets, Greater and Common Iora, Abott’s, Puff-throated and Scaly-Crowned Babbler, Olive-backed, Crimson and Purple-throated Sunbird.
In twilight: Arrive Hot-water lake, soak your legs in the warm (60oC) water to relax after long-walking, and here we can see the Great-eared Nightjar and Owls. Go to Dinh Quan town, check in at guest house. Have Dinner.

Day 2: Tan Phu – Ho Chi Minh
Morning: Prepare, have breakfast, coffee and then go into the forest, walk to the hills to find Orange-necked Partridge, Siamese Fireback, Bar-bellied, Blue-rumped and Blue-winged Pitta, and may other birds.
Afternoon: Go back to the town, have lunch and then visit the Bat rock-cavern (Hang Doi) where we can see Paddy-field Pipit, Plain and Grey-breasted Prinia, Red-wattled Lapwing, Whistling Blue Thrush and find some birds that we missed in the forest. In late afternoon, drive to Bich Ngoc restaurant, near La Nga bridge, where we will enjoy special food that is made from local native Hemibagrus fish for dinner. Drive direct to Sai Gon at about 08:00 pm.
